New York City Babysitter

Looking for the perfect babysitter? Try Sittercity now!

As undergrads at the University of Virginia, Michael Gugel and Kelly Lewis saw an opportunity. Schedules for students were erratic. Michael and Kelly were really busy with exams, papers, homework, and extracurriculars one week. Other weeks, they had lots of free time. It was hard to hold even a part-time job because their schedules were so unstable. Odd jobs like babysitting, dog walking, tutoring, and running errands, however, were a perfect fit. With those kinds of jobs, there was no long term obligation. They quickly recruited a fellow UVA student to create the website.

By the 2nd semester of their senior year, the site was launched in Charlottesville, Virginia. Hundreds of local Charlottesville residents signed up on the site hoping to find a UVA student babysitter, pet sitter, house sitter, or just someone to help run errands. Thousands of students joined within the first few months. Soon, Michael and Kelly graduated from UVA and moved to New York City. There, their site, CollegeQuickJobs.com was reborn. It was redeveloped from the ground up and NYC residents could now easily find NYU, Columbia and Barnard students to babysit their kids, walk their dog, look after their apartment while they were away on vacation, or just run some errands.

CollegeQuickJobs.com is no more, but if you're still looking for a babysitter, I recommend SitterCity.
