Interviewing a Potential Babysitter

After narrowing it down to a few potential babysitters, you’ll need to run a few interviews to make sure you pick a great match for your kids. The interview for a babysitter you found through craigslist.com will obviously need to be much more thorough than the interview of a sitter whose was personally recommended by a relative. Even so, you should dedicate some interviewing time to all potential babysitters.

How long have you been babysitting?
Do you babysit for other people too?
Have you had experience babysitting an infant, child, pre-teen?
What do you like about babysitting? What don’t you like?
Did you have any CPR certification or babysitting training?
How are you doing in school? Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities?
When are you available?
What do you usually do with the kids you babysit?

If possible, you should also introduce your children to the babysitter. Take note on how they get along and whether your child seems to like the babysitter.
