Choking First Aid
How do I know someone is choking?
What do I do when I see someone is choking?
How do I help a choking victim?
If someone is choking, they will not be able to breathe, talk, cough, or cry out. They will typically grab their throat, panic, and turn blue.
If they are unconscious, call an ambulance right away and then try helping the victim (see instructions below).
If they are still conscious, try once to get the object out yourself (see instructions below). If you are unsuccessful, call an ambulance and keep trying to get that object out until help arrives.
